EXCLUSIVE NEWS: Talented West Ham midfielder ready to quit job for permanent Sheffield Wednesday contract.

Sheffield Wednesday are now planning to strike a permanent move for West Ham midfielder Conor Coventry, while they might look to move George Byers out of Hillsborough according to reports.

The Sheffield Star wrote on Monday (8 January) that the Owls were one of several clubs interested in signing Coventry and that they are seeking to take him full time rather than on loan.

Sunday Mirror news editor Darren Witcoop later added an update to say Wednesday are indeed looking at Coventry, while Byers might be a player they look to move on.

West Ham midfielder Conor Coventry to Sheffield Wednesday and George Byers moving out is a possibility,” he wrote.

No shortage of suitors

The Coventry exit rumours are certainly gathering at a pace and Wednesday are apparently not the only clubs interested in his signature.

The Star also named Charlton Athletic as an interested party, while clubs in the Championship, League One and the Netherlands are said to be keeping tabs on the situation.

What might just give Wednesday the edge is that Coventry is apparently keen to put down some roots now having been shipped out on loan a couple of times during his career.

Wednesday are keen to made additions to boost their chances of survival in the Championship. They have already sent Tyreek Bakinson to Charlton on loan, while John Buckley has returned to Blackburn after a loan spell.

If appears more a matter of when not if Coventry leaves, and if Wednesday opt to move a third midfielder out in Byers then maybe they will just jump to the head of the queue.
