CHELSEA NOW TARGETING ‘SPECIAL’ £20M LEEDS UNITED PLAYER.

Chelsea are interested in signing Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams after failing with a bid for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo.

Tyler Adams is on Chelsea’s radar as they seek to bring in new midfield additions in the final month of the transfer window.

That is according to The Times, who claim that Caicedo is still Chelsea’s priority as they target a new midfielder.

Brighton have so far stood firm on Caicedo though, which means Chelsea now have to consider other options in the engine room.

One of them is thought to be Adams as he joins the likes of Romeo Lavia and Gabri Veiga on the Chelsea radar.

The American is gearing up for a Championship season with Leeds after suffering relegation at the end of last season.

One interesting note is that The Athletic claim Adams does have a release clause as part of his Leeds contract.

The value of that clause is thought to be around £20million, the fee Leeds paid to sign Adams from RB Leipzig last summer.

Other Premier League clubs interested in Tyler Adams

Adams was superb for Leeds last season before an injury ruled him out for the final two months of the campaign.

The 24-year-old – hailed as a ‘special’ player by former Leeds boss Jesse Marsch – was a real workhorse in midfield with his defensive ability vital in the Leeds midfield.

The Whites just couldn’t replicate that energy without Adams and his injury certainly contributed to their relegation.

Adams now seemingly appeals to multiple clubs as 90Min reported in May that Liverpool, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur all want him.

Liverpool initially went in another direction and are still targeting Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.

Yet with both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson moving on, Liverpool may need to bring in another midfielder who won’t break the bank – such as Adams.

Chelsea’s interest in Adams comes as they seemingly accept defeat to Liverpool in the Lavia race, but don’t be surprised if the Reds move for Adams too.
