JUST IN: Former Owls star makes very worrying prediction about Sheffield Wednesday.

Carlton Palmer has now made a deeply concerning prediction involving Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls face Leicester City in the Championship tonight as bottom faces top at Hillsborough.

Wednesday are in a perilous position and right now they sit 10 points adrift of the team in fourth bottom.

Danny Rohl has some serious work to do and he’s overseen just one victory since he was handed the chance to replace Xisco Munoz.

Palmer makes worrying prediction about Wednesday

The former Wednesday player isn’t shy in coming forward when it comes to offering his opinion on the Owls.

He had a very public spat with Dejphon Chansiri shortly after promotion to the Championship and he’s very opinionated.

That said, Palmer just cares about Wednesday and shoots straight from the heart like a fan.

Now, he’s made a very worrying prediction about the Owls ahead of their game against Leicester tonight.

He told Football League World: “Sheffield Wednesday are in deep, deep trouble.

“Three losses in a row since Danny Rohl’s first win, rooted at the foot of the Championship table, 10 points from safety.

“It is absolutely crystal clear that the recruitment of players done at the football club was poor before his arrival.

“I’m not sure how much he knew about the squad before he took the job and we will wait and see whether he is backed in the January transfer window to recruit new players.

“I’ve stated in recent weeks that I feel the Owls are unfortunately too far adrift to survive this season, and if the owner feels that, I suppose it’s all about getting the right squad in place to make an immediate return to the Championship the following year.”

Palmer does make good points about struggling Owls

He’s opinionated but any Wednesday fans not in agreement with Palmer probably have their heads buried in the sand.

Wednesday are in big trouble and that’s easy to see. The January transfer window might bring some respite but there are seven games before that point.

The Owls could be seriously doomed by the time another seven games have been played and they desperately need a win from somewhere.

Rohl seems like a good man. He’s a coach with a burgeoning reputation and fair play to him for coming to Wednesday for his first managerial role.

Ultimately, he’s going to be judged on results, however. He needs positive ones quickly to lift the spirits around Hillsborough and Palmer is right to have reservations on Wednesday.

The Owls are fighting in every single game. However, they need to turn a corner quickly and it will be fascinating to see what happens in January.
