On Sunday, the 49ers demolished the Eagles’ defense in their 42-19 victory at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field. San Francisco finished with six consecutive touchdown drives and racked up 456 yards in the NFC Championship rematch.
Now, San Francisco is considered Super Bowl favorites by many analysts, which means the Eagles are no longer viewed as the NFC’s best team despite the Eagles (10-2) still having the best record and lead in the race for the No. 1 seed.
In Week 14, the Eagles-Cowboys matchup could determine who wins the NFC East and the top NFC seed. San Francisco beat Philadelphia and Dallas this year, so the head-to-head tie-breaker goes to the 49ers. San Francisco needs to continue winning and will root for both teams to lose as many games as possible to ensure they lock up a first-round bye.
When asked about who he is cheering for in this NFC East battle, 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel said on Up & Adams: “We definitely want the Cowboys to win that game.”
Samuel told reporters last week he did not “regret” calling Eagles cornerback James Bradberry “trash” shortly after their NFC Championship loss. His comments on the “I Am Athlete” podcast sparked tension between the two teams during the offseason, but Samuel backed up his trash talk with a strong performance against Bradberry and Co.
He finished with four receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 22 yards and one touchdown. The 2021 first-team All-Pro is one of many wide receivers who have found success versus Philadelphia’s secondary this season. If Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb can put together a similar performance, Samuel’s wish might come true.
