Sheffield Wednesday have today appointed Kevin Beadell as the club’s new Head of Recruitment.
The Owls have been on the lookout for a new recruitment guru since Luke Dowling left earlier this season.
Danny Rohl has overseen four points in the last week but with the January transfer window on the horizon, a strong off-field appointment has now been made.
Xisco Munoz didn’t have the best record with his recruitment with Dowling failing to hit the spot.
Now, Dejphon Chansiri will want to avoid a repeat and he’s made a crucial appointment.
With Beadell now announced, here is everything you need to know about the new Head of Recruitment…
Who is Kevin Beadell?
The 47-year-old has a long-standing track record in recruitment and has worked at several big clubs.
His LinkedIn page highlights that he’s got a Masters in Sports Directorship from The Manchester Metropolitan University.
He’s worked in football for over 20 years and comes to Hillsborough with a pretty impressive CV.
He spent 10 years working with Manchester United as a scout for the first-team and the academy ranks.
Beadell, now in place at Wednesday, worked under Sir Alex Ferguson before moving to Arsenal.
He then worked in North London for another 10 years, this time under the iconic Arsene Wenger.
In 2020 he moved to Cardiff City where he held a number of roles in recruitment.
What will Beadell bring to Sheffield Wednesday?
This appointment fits in nicely with the news this week that Chansiri is willing to sanction a stellar loan addition in January.
Wednesday are keen to sign a striker and it’s claimed that the club might look to pay as much as £30,000-a-week for one.
Beadell will work closely with Rohl and he’s likely to have a big book of contacts for Wednesday to exhaust.
Given his years of working in roles at Arsenal and United, there could be a chance that he looks to poach some of their talented youngsters on loan in January.
At Cardiff, he was responsible for some very decent loan signings. Cody Drameh, Sory Kaba, Ryan Giles, Tommy Doyle and Cedric Kipre were all added on his watch.
Hopefully, the Owls can benefit from a similar degree of quality as they look to climb out of the Championship relegation zone.
