Sheffield Wednesday lost 3-1 to Norwich City in the Championship and Cameron Dawson didn’t cover himself in glory.

It really can be a bit of a fickle industry can football. The Owls stopper went from hero to zero in a matter of days after his penalty save at Stoke.

Against Norwich, Dawson was in for some criticism with the third Canaries goal proving to be one that saw the Wednesday man at fault.

Journalist questions goalkeeper Dawson after Wednesday defeat

Wednesday battled for large parts of the game against Norwich but ultimately they left East Anglia with nothing to show for their efforts.

Bailey Cadamarteri equalised for the Owls in the second half but that was about as good as it goes in truth.

It was Wednesday stopper Dawson who came under fire for the third goal scored by Jonathan Rowe, with the goalkeeper beaten at his near post.

Crann said on Twitter: “Dawson won’t want to watch that one back, caught out at his near post – and he should’ve done better with that.”

Dawson needs support from manager

Although this was a mistake on the part of Dawson, he should still remain the Wednesday number-one goalkeeper this season.

Devis Vasquez hasn’t been without fault either and the 28-year-old star needs the support of Danny Rohl right now.

Wednesday deserved to be beaten at Carrow Road, it has to be said, and they will need to get back on track this weekend.

The Owls face QPR at Hillsborough and the challenge now is to ensure that the home stadium becomes something of a fortress.

Dawson has had some negative comments this season and that is something that Wednesday boss Rohl has alluded to.

The goalkeeper hasn’t become a bad stopper in the space of a few days and hopefully, he can bounce back from this mistake.
