Leigh Leopards halfback joins the Salford Red Devils as their newest squad member.

Salford Red Devils have completed the signing of Leigh Leopards halfback Joe Mellor. The experience halfback joins the club on a two-year deal and becomes the club’s eighth signing ahead of the 2024 season.

Mellor will add competition for places in the spine, competing for a place in the side alongside the likes of Cade Cust, Marc Sneyd and Kai Morgan. Previous of Widnes, Wigan and Toronto, Mellor signed for Leigh in 2021 and made 71 appearances for the club.

His departure could free up a spot for Tristan Sailor in the Leigh squad, the Brisbane Broncos talent who can play across the backline, though they do need a quota spot.

“I am really happy to join Salford for the next two years and I am excited to get started and meet the rest of the team,” he said.
