‘Powerful’: Barry Bannan makes a ‘massive’ assertion about Sheffield Wednesday fans.

Bannan has been captain fantastic again for Wednesday during the 2023/24 campaign. He’s been in fine form when he’s played and he always leaves everything out on the pitch in the blue and white.

The midfielder was on the pitch as the Owls fought back from a goal behind to claim a big three points. Wednesday are now just six points adrift of safety and Bannan will be under no illusions that there is still work to do.

The experienced performer is proving that he can still play in the Championship this season. Bannan remained loyal to Wednesday when they dropped into League One and he’s a cult hero at the club.

After the game, he paid tribute to the club’s supporters, with the Owls fan base roaring their team to a big victory in the closing stages of such an important match.

He told The Star: “I knew as soon as we got one that were going to push for a second…It’s amazing, and the fans were behind us for the whole second half – they drove us over the line.”

Bannan integral to fortunes under Danny Rohl

The German manager replaced Xisco Munoz to get his first management gig and he’s thriving under immense pressure. Wednesday were a sinking ship when he came in but now he’s started to turn things around.

Bannan has remained the captain under Rohl and he’s a real Wednesday stalwart. It’s taken time for some of the Owls’ new signings to get going but keeping the 33-year-old in the team will aid their settling-in periods.

The statistics showcase that Bannan was good yesterday. He had more touches than any other player, made more passes and also produced the most key passes.

Bannan will likely remain an instrumental part of the team under Rohl at Wednesday. The captain is a credit to his profession and his experience will be extremely important this season.
