John Buckley could be facing a spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury during Sheffield Wednesday’s 2-1 win against Queens Park Rangers.
Buckley came off the bench for the final 20 minutes but could not finish the game following a collision with Sam Field.
The Owls trailed after a Bambo Diaby own goal but turned things around in the final stages thanks to Bailey Cadamarteri and Anthony Musaba, the latter scoring in the 94th minute at Hillsborough.
Diaby and Callum Paterson also came off with injuries, and manager Danny Rohl says it is too early to know how long any of them will be out of action.
After the final whistle, he told Sheffield Star: “At the moment I have no news, but you can ask me next week.
“Maybe I’ll have some information then, and hopefully the injuries are not too big, because we need everybody.
“It is about finding solutions, but today we will enjoy the win and cross my fingers for my injured players and go into next week.”
The result leaves the Yorkshire club 23rd in the Championship table, six points from safety heading into the busy Christmas period.
“It was a hard game against an opponent who forced us to work very hard. I don’t think in the first half either team was better than the other, it was a very even game,” Rohl added.
“I spoke to the team at half-time and said we needed to play the ball forward more often. We had the feeling in the second half there was something in the game for us.
“I have talked about what has made us successful in the last few games and it has all been about having the belief until the very end.
“We got the point against Leicester, the winner against Stoke and again today. I think this shows the character and personality we have in our team.
“We could have been happy with 1-1 but there was a feeling in the stadium. Our crowd at home is fantastic and they pushed us over the line again today.
“I am so proud of the whole team. Right now, everyone is working at the very limit to give the best they can for the club.”
Buckley joined the Owls in the final stages of Deadline Day and Rovers have an option to recall the midfielder in January.
The 24-year-old has made 13 appearances for Wednesday so far. Prior to heading out on loan, he was on target in the Carabao Cup fixtures against Walsall and Harrogate.
