76ers News: Mac McClung has been invited to defend his NBA Dunk Contest title.

On Monday, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that the NBA has invited Mac McClung to the NBA’s Slam Dunk Contest, set to take place during the 2024 All-Star Game festivities in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The invitation provides McClung with an opportunity to defend his title, after he beat out the likes of Kenyon Martin Jr, Trey Murphy III, and Jericho Sims, doing so while a part of the Philadelphia 76ers.

Throughout the three rounds, the former-Sixer received perfect 50s on nearly all of his dunks, falling short of perfection in his second-round performance, with his dunk receiving a score of 49.8, before clearing the New Orleans Pelicans’ Murphy III in the final round.

During his one season with the Sixers, McClung appeared in just two games towards the tail end of the season, posting an average of 13 points per game and five rebounds.

He was more known for his work as a member of the Delaware Blue Coats, Philadelphia’s G-League affiliate, as he played in 31 games, averaging 20 points per game on an efficient 55 percent shooting.

The Slam Dunk Contest wouldn’t be the only trophy that McClung lifted last season, as he helped the Blue Coats to win the G League finals, as they took down the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the affiliate of the Houston Rockets.

This season, while not a part of Delaware, rather the Osceola Magic, the affiliated organization of the Orlando Magic, the 24-year-old has been on a tear, averaging 25.4 points per game, which ranks him third in the league .
