Sheffield Wednesday favourite Bailey Cadamarteri has shared a message with fans after yesterday’s defeat vs Cardiff City.

Sheffield Wednesday welcomed Cardiff City to Hillsborough yesterday.

It was the Owls’ final home game of 2023 and Danny Rohl‘s side looked like they were enroute to victory after taking the lead through Anthony Musaba.

Cardiff offered very little but found a way back into the game after Karlan Grant’s cross was deflected past Cameron Dawson.

The Wednesday goalkeeper then spilled an effort late on which was unfortunately forced over the line by Akin Famewo for an own goal, handing the visitors all three points.

Bailey Cadamarteri ‘gutted’ after Cardiff defeat

Cadamarteri started up top once again.

It was a difficult afternoon but he again showed his class, putting himself about and causing problems for the Cardiff defence all afternoon.

The 18-year-old has now started the last six for Wednesday, scoring three goals in the process; he’s also finished the last two games now as well.

And after yesterday’s game, the striker had this message for Wednesday fans:

Cardiff defeat gives Sheffield Wednesday food for thought

Sheffield Wednesday were in total control of yesterday’s game.

At 65 minutes with the Owls in front and Cardiff offering very little, there seemed to be no other outcome than a Wednesday win, and so to come out of that game with nothing is a real hammer-blow for Rohl and his players.

But it gives the Wednesday boss food for thought ahead of January.

Dawson is once again coming under scrutiny for his performance and so Rohl may well inclined to bring in a new no.1 after that game.

But Dawson wasn’t to blame for the defeat; Wednesday failed to take their chances and ultimately paid the price, as echoed by Alan Biggs after the game yesterday.

Cadamarteri was one of the many positives to take from yesterday.

He’s now finishing full 90 minutes for the Owls which shows that he’s really stepping up his fitness so that he can operate well in this high-energy Rohl system.

And leading the line with such confidence at 18 years old is a huge credit to him and to the Wednesday academy, who also saw graduate Joey Phuthi make the bench yesterday.

The Owls remain six points adrift ahead of their Boxing Day trip to Coventry City.
