Miami Hurricanes Running back available to play against Rutgers after spotted in training.

Running back TreVonte’ Citizen is available to play against Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl. Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal announced his status on Wednesday afternoon.

Citizen has been on the Miami roster since 2022 but missed his first two seasons due to a knee injury and setback.

If he plays in the Pinstripe Bowl on Thursday afternoon, it will be his collegiate debut. He will be part of a deep running back rotation against Rutgers that will include Mark Fletcher JrHenry Parrish Jr and Ajay Allen.

Citizen, from Lake Charles College Prep (LA), was a 4-Star recruit and the 2nd ranked running back in the Class of 2022 per Rivals. He racked up 743 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in his final high school season.

He was turning heads in 2022 fall camp before suffering an ACL tear. Citizen is listed at 6-1, 220 lbs on Miami’s football roster.

He did go through warmups prior to some of Miami’s late-season games in 2023, but did not get in. Miami’s coaching and training staffs exercised an abundance of caution after his injury. Thursday could finally be his time to shine.
