Harry Kane has been offered a “jaw-dropping” new contract to commit his long-term future to Tottenham, sources have told Football Insider.
Spurs have gone all out to keep hold of their star player and avoid the devastating financial blow of losing him for nothing next year.
Tottenham have offered Kane a huge salary rise that would, according to sources, not only significantly improve his current £200,000-a-week wages but make him one of the Premier League’s top earners.
The current top bracket players include the likes of Man City’s Erling Haaland and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who signed a new three-year contract last summer.
Spurs are willing to go as far as Liverpool did last year to keep their own goal machine.
However, Kane, who turns 30 at the end of July, has no plans to sign a contract extension during the summer window and will instead play a waiting game over his future.
He is aware of strong interest from Bayern Munich, who last week bid an initial £60million, and would be able to sign a pre-contract with them in January.
Tottenham have privately made it clear that Kane is not for sale and they will not listen to offers for him this summer.
They believe squad improvements, including the marquee signing of playmaker James Maddison, can persuade Kane to stay and that his ambitions can still be fulfilled at the club he has spent his entire career.
In addition to the capture of Maddison, Spurs have signed the goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and are poised to announce the signing of the winger Manor Solomon.
