The 2023 NFL season was shaping up to be another magical year for the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles, with the team winning 10 of their first 11 games, which appeared to be paving the way for Jalen Hurts and company to be a dominant force in the conference once again.
Unfortunately for Philadelphia, the Eagles have only won one more game since hitting that point in the regular season, with this team limping to the finish line late in the season.
As if losing four of their last five games wasn’t bad enough for the Eagles, it appears the team is headed for another loss in their regular-season finale against the division-rival New York Giants.
While currently down 24-0 against the Giants in Week 18, Hurts suffered a nasty injury to the middle finger on his right hand via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.
Along with battling injuries all year long, Hurts can add another one to the list as the regular season mercifully comes to an end for the Eagles, with Philadelphia looking like they’ll finish with a record of 11-6.
Usually, at this time of the year, the best teams in the league start to separate themselves from the pack, and the real title contenders become apparent, like the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers.
The Eagles, unfortunately, don’t appear to be in the title-contending conversation in the NFC, as this team could be headed for a first-round exit once the playoffs get underway for Nick Sirianni’s squad.
