Talented cornerback has decided to play football at Tennessee.

Tennessee has added some more help out of the transfer portal, once again grabbing some much-needed help in the secondary. Jalen McMurray, a veteran cornerback who played his last three seasons with Temple, announced his commitment to Tennessee on Tuesday afternoon.

McMurray entered the portal back on December 27th. The 6-0 cornerback appeared in 27 games for Temple, putting up 90 tackles, one pick and was credited with 12 pass breakups. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining after redshirting back in 2021.

McMurray also took visits to Bowling Green and Illinois before ultimately choosing Tennessee. He joins Jermod McCoy in Tennessee’s portal class at cornerback, giving the Volunteers a badly needed veteran at the position. Tennessee is set to flip its entire secondary this offseason, as all five starters have moved on after the season.

In total, seven defensive backs entered the transfer portal for Tennessee, creating a wild amount of turnover in the secondary. All of those spots will be up for grabs in the spring, where Rickey Gibson is expected to lead the way at corner. Now you can toss another name in that mix, as Willie Martinez is set to attempt to put this puzzle together.
