Newcastle is on the verge of signing a winger who is on Tottenham’s radar.

Harvey Barnes, who is coveted by Tottenham, is about to join Newcastle United.

Newcastle United are closing in on a sensational transfer coup as they edge closer to securing the signing of Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes, who has long been on Tottenham’s radar.

The Telegraph has revealed that the Magpies have stolen a march on their rivals in the pursuit of the talented England international and are hoping to finalize a deal with Leicester over the next week.

The Daily Mail reported that the Lilywhites were locked in a fierce battle with Newcastle, West Ham United, and Aston Villa for the highly sought-after winger. However, Tottenham eventually went for Manor Solomon.

The Guardian suggested that Tottenham’s interest in Barnes had waned following their agreement to sign Manor Solomon. This shift in focus has allowed the Magpies to surge ahead and position themselves as frontrunners in the race for his signature.

It is believed that Eddie Howe’s side will imminently submit an offer for the talented winger, with Barnes himself expressing a strong desire to make the move to the North East. This might not affect Tottenham much.

Leicester, however, are unlikely to part ways with Barnes without a significant fee. The Foxes value the 25-year-old at £40 million, but Newcastle is hoping to negotiate a deal closer to the £35 million mark.

Barnes has emerged as one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Premier League in recent seasons. His pace, dribbling ability, and eye for goal make him a potent threat in the final third, and his performances for Leicester have earned him a place in the England squad.

For Spurs, missing out on Barnes would be a setback. The North London club is looking to rebuild under new management, and acquiring a player of Barnes’ calibre would have been a statement of intent.

However, the signing of Solomon means that they are sorted for the time being and do not need to worry much. Let’s see where Barnes ends up.
