PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns finally found the win column against the Miami Heat after losing their previous two games over the weekend, though they didn’t emerge out of South Beach fully healthy.
In the first half, the Suns saw forward Grayson Allen exit after rolling his ankle on Josh Okogie’s foot while playing defense. He was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game:
The Suns – who have battled injury concerns throughout the first half of the season – spoke after the game and confirmed Allen’s X-rays came back negative, a good sign for his health moving forward.
“X-rays are negative. Sprained his right ankle, he’ll be day-to-day,” said Frank Vogel following the game. Vogel said he didn’t see the actual act of the injury, though he saw Allen limping off the floor.
Phoenix approached their win over Miami with Bradley Beal still dealing with a nasal fracture and Jusuf Nurkic with a thumb sprain – both played.
Allen has started every game he’s played for Phoenix in 2023-24 and has established himself as one of the most valuable players on the roster under Vogel thanks to his play on both ends of the floor.
He also dealt with a groin injury earlier this season, though only Nurkic (43) has played more games than Allen (41).
Prior to tonight, Allen averaged 13.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest with a three-point shooting percentage of 49.8%.
The Suns are set to release their injury report for Wednesday’s meeting with the Brooklyn Nets later today.
