Reports in Italy state the £50million deal with Inter Milan will be ratified in the next 24 hours.
Sport Mediaset (via SportWitness) say the last few details are to be “ironed out” on the fee for the 27-year-old shot-stopper, with negotiations continuing over the fixed and variable terms of the price tag.
A fee of €50million had been previously reported but the San Siro side are holding out for somewhere closer to €60million.
There is now an acceptance from all parties that this deal will get done as United “await the closure” at some point tomorrow for Onana to become David de Gea’s replacement at Old Trafford.
Onana’s arrival will be a game-changer for Erik ten Hag, who values having a ball-playing goalkeeper having worked with the Cameroon international during their time at Ajax together.
Liverpool in pole

Newcastle ‘agree terms’ with Man Utd target
Newcastle United have reportedly agreed personal terms with Monaco defender Axel Disasi.
The centre-back has been on Champions League rivals Manchester United’s radar as well, with the player valued at around the £34million mark.
No formal approach has been forthcoming from Old Trafford, however, with the Magpies appearing to be in pole position.
The report states the Toon have been given the green light to start talks and have “given assurances” to the player over game-time.
Disasi made 49 appearances for the Ligue 1 club last season and scored six goals.
