The Seattle Seahawks will add longtime coach Leslie Frazier to their coaching staff.
A report emerged on Friday that Frazier, who recently coached with the Buffalo Bills, will move to Seattle as new coach Mike MacDonald assembles his coaching staff.
NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported the news. Pelissero posted the news on X.
Frazier played in the NFL from 1981-1985 with the Chicago Bears. He was a member of the famed ’85 Bears team that won Super Bowl XX on the back of one of the greatest defenses of all time. Frazier contributed on defense to boot, as he played defensive back.
Frazier has coached football since 1988 collegiately and profesionally. He was the head coach of Trinity International University from 1988 to 1996. After that, he spent two seasons at the University of Illinois as their defensive backs coach.
Frazier has worked in the NFL ever since. He’s coached with the Eagles, Bengals, Colts, and Vikings. Minnesota named him their head coach in 2011, a job he held for three seasons. He has since worked as a coordinator and defensive coach for Tampa Bay, Baltimore, and, most recently, Buffalo.
Frazier has certainly seen and done it all. This is a pretty strong hire for Mike MacDonald as he builds his new staff. Frazier’s veteran presence and command will likely do wonders for the staff at large. For a first-time head coach in MacDonald, it’s a quality move made.
