UNC basketball looks to be among five-star guard Isiah Harwell’s most active suitors.

The UNC basketball coaches might be top contenders for several of the targets on their notably ambitious 2025 wishlist. That includes the two official visitors on campus this weekend in Link Academy (Mo.) five-star guard Jasper Johnson and Holy Innocents Episcopal School (Ga.) five-star forward Caleb Wilson.

Add Wasatch Academy (Utah) five-star guard Isiah Harwell to that group, although his recruitment has been a bit quieter than some.

This week, Harwell, No. 7 on the 247Sports 2025 Composite, told On3’s Joe Tipton that UNC basketball’s Hubert Davis is one of only three head coaches who have visited him this season. The others are Houston’s Kelvin Sampson and Cal’s Mark Madsen. He also mentioned that assistants from Texas and Miami have been in to see him.

Davis’ trip to Utah is one positive sign for the Tar Heels’ chances to land the 6-foot-6, 200-pound long-limbed scoring machine. And it doesn’t hurt that he has referred to UNC as his “dream school growing up.”

Moreover, Isiah Harwell listed the Tar Heels among the nine finalists he revealed in late October, along with Alabama, Baylor, Houston, Texas, Gonzaga, Idaho State, Cal, and UCLA.

Thus far, his only scheduled official visit is to Gonzaga this weekend. That said,  Harwell checked out Chapel Hill on an unofficial visit in September 2022 and received an offer from Hubert Davis around that same time, becoming the first official Tar Heel target in the cycle.

In other words, the UNC staff appears to be considerably active and hopeful in the Harwell sweepstakes, and it’s been that way for some time. He’s yet to provide a decision timeline.
