Former Trojans DC breaks his silence on being fired in November.

In November, the USC Trojans finally did the inevitable when the program fired their defensive coordinator, Alex Grinch.

Grinch led the USC defense to new lows, and fans were screaming for the program to let go of their former DC. It might have been too late, but the program finally listened.

The Trojans have flipped the page on that book, and so has Grinch. USC now has a new defense coordinator in D’Anton Lynn, and Grinch is now taking over the defense at Wisconsin.

The 43-year-old coordinator broke his silence recently as he spoke to The Athletic’s Jesse Temple. Grinch reflected on what went wrong at USC and said he has a ‘chip on his shoulder.’

Grinch was named Wisconsin’s new assistant coach/co-defensive coordinator last week.

If Grinch is even half of what he was at USC, Wisconsin doesn’t stand a chance. Under Grich, USC ranked 117th in opponent points per game, 114th in opponent yards per game, 93rd in opponent yards per play, and 115th in red zone scoring percentage. It was an abysmal display of coaching and performance by the players as well.
