USC’s 2024 cycle is firmly closed…when it comes to high school prospects. The Trojans will still very much be in the market for some top transfer portal additions in the spring. I decided to dust off an old recruiting piece from the 2021 cycle where I do an early look at the incoming freshmen and give them each an Impact Rating for the upcoming season i.e. how much impact they could potentially have as a true freshman. But instead of high school prospects, it’s being molded to transfers. The idea will be to do this first run before spring camp and then one in the middle of fall camp. Since there will be new transfers added, there might be a second earlier version going into fall camp for the transfers. Version 1.0 is the initial gut-reaction projections.
The rating is simple as it will be on a 1-to-5 scale, modified for the transfers:
1 – A Stash: A level one prospect will see little to no playing time. Saving for the future (i.e. Carson Tabaracci)
3 – Contributor. This player will contribute as a special teams player and maybe a key backup. (i.e. Jack Sullivan)
4 – High-impact contributor. Not quite a starter, but in that range. Provides key reps. (i.e. Dorian Singer)
5 – Plug-and-Play Starter. Speaks for itself. (i.e. Emmanuel Pregnon)
