Wolves transfer news: Geoffrey Kondogbia’s asking price from Atletico is just £4.3 million.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly now asking for £4.3 million for Geoffrey Kondogbia this summer, with Wolves having been linked earlier this year.

AS have reported that the Central African Republic international is set to depart the Spanish giants this summer.

Kondogbia has made just 27 appearances across all competitions this season, with 20 of those coming in La Liga.

He has lost prominence at the club, with Diego Simeone preferring other options in midfield. In 2023, Kondogbia has made just 11 appearances.

Atletico Madrid want £4.3 million for Wolves target Geoffrey Kondogbia

Kondogbia has admirers in Turkey.

At the moment, Besiktas are offering £2.1 million.

But according to Spanish publication AS, the club are looking to bring in around £4.3 million.

The player has a contract until the summer of 2024.

It follows a claim earlier this year that Wolves were interested in the player.

Fabrizio Romano claimed a few months ago that Wolves did actually make an approach for the 30-year-old in January.

Of course in the end, Wanderers swooped for two midfielders in the last window – Mario Lemina and Joao Gomes.

Geoffrey Kondogbia is a steal at £4.3 million, but Wolves may no longer have need

At just £4.3 million, Kondogbia will make for a steal for somebody.

The ace is a very tenacious player who brings energy to the midfield and loves to put a foot in. When they signed him, Atletico described him as a ‘very complete midfielder’ on their official website (via Goal).

But arguably, Wolves are no longer needing such a player.

Lemina and Gomes have both shown that they are brilliant ball winners and both can get about the pitch really well.

And Wolves have really high hopes about Boubacar Traore, who struggled with injury in his first season at Molineux.

It would be a surprise if Wolves did go in for Kondogbia this summer. Given there are players already like him at the club.

But he’s very cheap and Wolves being in the position they are right now might just tempt them. Especially if they decided to loan out Traore.
