Rasmus Hojlund is open to joining Man Utd, but there’s still plenty of ground to cover for the Red Devils before they manage to bring the £85m-rated star to Old Trafford.

The Dane moved to Atalanta only last summer from Austrian outfit Sturm Graz without much hype. But by the end of the 2022/23 campaign, he managed to draw comparisons with Erling Haaland due to his 6′ 3″ frame and impeccable speed.

The rare combination made the new Scandinavian sensation a nightmare to defend against at times and helped him end the season with nine league goals to his name.

The 20-year-old’s talent has attracted interest from United, who are in search of a new goal-scorer to lead their line. Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also in the market for a forward and could reportedly ‘come into the reckoning’.

However, as far as the player’s will is concerned, the 20-time English champions are favourites. As per The Athletic, Hojlund is keen to move to United. Earlier this year the youngster admitted he followed Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford .

The issue remains convincing Atalanta to part ways with their prized asset. The Bergamo-based club value Hojlund at 100 million euros (£85m) – the figure that Man Utd’s hierarchy consider ‘excessive’.

With Erik ten Hag’s squad needing multiple gaps to be filled, United are finding it hard to bring all his targets within their limited budget, which is reported to be around £100milion. The Red Devils are also in talks with Inter Milan to sign Andre Onana and have already signed Mason Mount in a deal worth up to £60million.

In order to find a compromise with Atalanta, Man Utd reportedly made an offer that included players in part-exchange for Hojlund and also suggested separate loans. But the Italian outfit remain adamant to be paid the fee for their star in full.
