Orlando Pirates seem to have let an ex-Burnley striker go, despite impressing at the club, but that is not where the story ends.
Orlando Pirates are believed to be ready to go into the market for yet another striker in the off-season.
Pirates are believed to already be closing in on DRC striker Andy Boyeli but that doesn’t seem to be enough.
They’re also believed to be in the race for Ivorian striker Freddy Michael Kouablan, with archrivals Kaizer Chiefs. The club was already active in the recently concluded January transfer window. The likes of Thabiso Lebitso and Talent Mbatha were roped in by Pirates, who then saw Bienvenu Eva Nga released. Then perhaps, the biggest outgoing was that of club stalwart Thembinkosi Lorch. The playmaker shocked the local football fraternity by securing a deadline-day move to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.
Just last week, it was rumoured that they’re monitoring veteran Swati goal machine Sabelo Ndzinisa. Earlier in the week, this publication reported that Pirates had welcomed former Burnley youth academy striker Tremaine Eastmond for assessments.
PIRATES IMPRESSED BY EASTMOND
Earlier in the week, this publication reported that Eastmond has been impressing during practice at Pirates. It is thought that the player cannot stop scoring. He is also believed to be making it hard for the club to ignore the possibility of signing him. It was also thought that they would have to make some sacrifice in order to sign him.
Now according to the latest from iDiski Times, Eastmond has returned to his native but, with an intention to return.
SET TO RETURN FOR PRE-SEASON
“The 20-year-old spent two weeks with the first team at Rand Stadium and featured in a couple of friendlies where he is said to have impressed. However, he’s since returned to England where he will be following a training program by himself, with the understanding he will return for pre-season with the Buccaneers. No agreement has been reached, however, the former Burnley academy product will be aiming to impress further to earn a deal with the Soweto giants.” Wrote the publication.
t would be interesting to see if Eastmond will sign at Pirates. This especially since he was deemed not good enough by Cape Town Spurs who are relegation threatened. The Buccaneers are believed to be ready to overhaul their striking department at the end of the season. Zakhele Lepasa, Kermit Erasmus and Souaibou Marou are all thought to be heading for the exit door.
