Orlando Pirates are reportedly monitoring the progress of a highly-rated defender currently on the books of Stellenbosch FC.
Orlando Pirates are reportedly monitoring the progress of Ismael Olivier Toure at Stellenbosch FC.
Toure joined the Winelands outfit from Marumo Gallants at the outset of the current Premiership campaign.
ORLANDO PIRATES REHEAT INTEREST IN ISMAEL OLIVIER TOURE
Prior to his move to the Cape it had been rumoured that the Sea Robbers had interest in Toure.
However, that interest did not result in a concrete offer.
Meanwhile, at Stellies, Toure has been in impressive form and Orlando Pirates have taken note.
Toure has been putting in the hard yards and delivering the dramatic moments as well.
STELLIES DEFENCE IS THE ENVY OF THE PSL
Under Steve Barker, the Stellies’ defence has been among the best in the league and Toure has done his bit.
“Touré is undoubtedly one of the very best defenders in our league and an important signing for our club,” head coach Steve Barker said.
“He showed his qualities throughout last season with Marumo Gallants, including outstanding performances in the Confederations Cup.
“He is a physically commanding centre-back who is good with the ball at his feet, and we believe that he will be a big addition to our squad.”
TOURE STILL WANTED BY ORLANDO PIRATES
Toure also scored a crucial goal in the Carling Knockout trophy final sending them into the penalty shootout that they won.
Soccer Laduma report that a source close to the player has revealed that Orlando Pirates still have an interest.
“Pirates had been monitoring the player since his days at Marumo Gallants. Remember there was a stage when Marumo were doing well in CAF (Confederation Cup) and that didn’t go unnoticed.
“But Stellenbosch were quick to sign him after Marumo got relegated,” said the source.
“But there is still interest from Pirates in the player. His progress at Stellenbosch hasn’t gone unnoticed and nobody can deny that he has improved in the last few months to be one of the top defenders in the league.”
ORLANDO PIRATES TARGET FOCUSED ON STELLIES
The source suggested that the attention he is getting hasn’t thrown Toure off at all, with plenty to do for Stellies before the campaign is in the books.
“But the player is focused on the good job he is doing for Stellenbosch and is aiming to make further progress with the team, as there is also a semi-final of the Nedbank Cup coming for them next month against (Mamelodi) Sundowns,” the source concluded.
Stellenbosch FC face TS Galaxy on Sunday in their next DStv Premiership match.
