Goalkeeper Mads Hermansen has signed for Leicester City on a five-year deal.
The 23-year-old Brondby keeper becomes the fourth signing for Leicester this summer as the club tries to launch an immediate challenge for promotion in the Championship. The fee is believed to be around £5million.
He hopes to follow in the footsteps of Leicester legend Kasper Schmeichel, who he currently deputises with the Denmark national team, and joins Danny Ward, Daniel Iversen and Alex Smithies in the keeper department.
New boss Enzo Maresca confirmed at the weekend that he wanted to bring in Hermansen, who has also been linked with Bournemouth, Fulham, Everton and Burnley – and he ticks the box for how Maresca wants his side to play.
Denmark midfielder turned pundit Thomas Gravesen said: “I believe that in Mads Hermansen he can see a playing goalkeeper. A goalkeeper who looks like Ederson and Alisson, who can get out of the box and can play forward.”
Hermansen helped Brondby finish sixth in the Danish Superliga last season, having won the title in 2021 and been named player of the year in 2022.
He continues the Leicester rebuild as Maresca has already brought in Harry Winks and Connor Coady on permanent deals from Tottenham and Wolves respectively, as well as centre-back Callum Doyle on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
