Oklahoma City Thunder star and NBA MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander welcomed a baby boy, Ares, with longtime girlfriend, Hailey Summer, earlier this month, his first child.
Ares was born on April 25, the day after his dad scored 33 points against the New Orleans Pelicans in Game 2 of a Western Conference first-round playoff series.
Gilgeous-Alexander did not have a game the day of Ares’ birth and has led the Thunder in scoring during each playoff contest thus far.
Ares weighed 7.3 pounds at birth and was 20 inches, and he was born at 10:25 p.m. in Oklahoma.
Gilgeous-Alexander announced his son’s birth on Instagram on Thursday. He and Summer announced they were expecting their first child last December.
Gilgeous-Alexander currently has some time off from basketball, as Oklahoma City are awaiting their next playoff opponent.
By sweeping New Orleans, the Thunder will face either the Clippers or Mavericks in the Western Conference Semifinals. The series is tied 2-2 heading into Wednesday night’s Game 5.
Summer was a college soccer player at the University of Albany and has been in a relationship with Gilgeous-Alexander for several years.
Their first appearance on Summer’s Instagram was from New Year’s Day in 2017, with them posed together in a polaroid.
Gilgeous-Alexander finished the regular season with 30.1 points per game, third in the NBA behind Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
