Leeds United are reportedly on the verge of significant investment from actor Will Ferrell as the 49ers plan for a big summer.
The Whites are now preparing for the playoffs this month after finishing third in the Championship, ending their season in worrying form with a 2-1 defeat at home to Southampton.
Norwich City stand in Leeds’ way in the semi-finals before a clash against either the Saints or West Brom at Wembley, should they make it through.
Phil Hay relays Will Ferrell Leeds investment reports
The Sun reported on Saturday that Leeds were set for significant investment from famous actor Will Ferrell, said to be a “large stake”.
Ferrell is said to have fallen in love with English football of late and Leeds in particular, having been inspired by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Wrexham journey.
Now, The Athletic’s Phil Hay has relayed claims that the legendary actor is in fact joining the 49ers’ investment group at Elland Road:
Will Ferrell net worth revealed
The Anchorman star is of course a huge name in the film industry, amassing 16 Primetime Emmy nominations with three wins across a solid film and TV career.
According to CelebrityNetWorth, the 53-year-old is worth $160million as of 2024.
He is also a part-owner of MLS club LAFC, where former Leeds youngster Mateusz Bogusz is currently playing this season.
Another solid pull from the 49ers
It does go to show that Leeds are still a massive draw even when stuck in the Championship for the time being.
The 49ers have a huge commercial pull right now and they should capitalise at every opportunity to get major investors on board.
Ferrell isn’t exactly going to be pulling the strings here, but to have another global name on board is great for us
