Texans owner Cal McNair assured fans that wide receiver Tank Dell is on track for a full recovery after being injured in a shooting at a Florida restaurant last month.
While McNair didn’t delve into specifics about Dell’s injury, he referred to it as a “minor wound,” echoing earlier statements from the team. Speaking at an event, McNair described the incident as “frightening” but expressed optimism about Dell’s progress, noting that he looked good and was in good spirits during a recent visit to the office. However, he acknowledged that Dell will need to undergo rehabilitation to regain his strength.
Coach DeMeco Ryans also provided updates on Dell, indicating that he’s had positive conversations with him since the shooting. When asked about Dell’s readiness for Week 1, Ryans remained cautious but optimistic, saying Dell should be fine. Ryans confirmed that Dell had recovered from a previous injury before the shooting occurred.
Dell, a third-round draft pick in 2023 from the University of Houston, had an impressive rookie season with 709 receiving yards and seven touchdown receptions, setting a franchise record. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to a left fibula injury in December. Despite the setback, Ryans expressed confidence in Dell’s recovery process and readiness to return to practice once he’s fully healed.
