Georgia Bulldogs TE Oscar Delp officially promoted to new position after Brock Bowers leaves for the NFL.

The Georgia Bulldogs have lost many several key players to the NFL including tight endBrock Bowers. In the last two seasons, they have one game. Georgia won back-to-back titles before losing to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game and missing out on the college football playoff.

Instead, the Bulldogs crushed the Florida State Seminoles in the Orange Bowl 63-3 last year. The Georgia Bulldogs showed that they should have been one of the four teams in the college football playoff. With an expanded playoff this season, head coach Kirby Smart should have his Bulldogs back in the championship picture.

They always reloaded year after year and this year will be no different. Georgia is expected to possibly be number one in the preseason rankings. Quarterback Carson Beck is projected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft. He can also win the Heisman Trophy this season.

Other than Beck, there will be some other players to watch for this season. Who is a potential candidate to break out on the offensive side of the football?

Georgia Bulldogs Junior Tight End Oscar Delp Is a Prime Candidate To Break Out In the Offense After Brock Bowers Leaves For the NFL

Entering this season, junior tight end Oscar Delp is expected to be the starting tight end after Bowers leaves for the NFL. Brock Bowers could have been a top-five selection, but he slipped to the Las Vegas Raiders 13th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

“To be clear, I wouldn’t say that tight-end Oscar Delp is a true breakout candidate, as most of Dawg Nation is well aware of who he is. However, this is all about him taking the torch from the greatest tight end in college football history, Brock Bowers. Delp becomes the main focal point in the Bulldogs offense at this position group. He will have support from Lawson Luckie and transfer Benjamin Yurosek.

This will be the second year Carson Beck will be operating in Mike Bobo’s offense. Over the course of last season, we did see subtle variations in how Bobo calls a game when compared to his UGA predecessor Todd Monken.

Georgia is still Tight End U, although Iowa would like to beg and differ. For this to continue being in Georgia’s favor, Delp must have a breakout season as Beck’s safety valve.

How quickly he can build his rapport with Beck will do wonders with the state of the Georgia offense.”

The passing game is going to be dangerous this season for the Bulldogs. We will see how well Oscar Delp will block because Brock Bowers was an excellent blocker as well.
