The Super League disciplinary process has ran it’s course for the events and incidents from Round Eleven and that’s seen three players handed bans, a further four fined and then one Hull FC man under ‘further investigation’.
That man is Herman Ese’ese, the Black and Whites’ star signing from the NRL with the 29-year-old former Samoan and New Zealand international being at the centre of an incident in Hull FC’s loss to London Broncos.
London notched their first win of the campaign as they beat Hull FC by a score of 34-18 in a game with plenty of incidents including Jordan Lane’s sin bin, the forward copping a £250 ban for that, and also “inappropriate words”.
That’s how referee Chris Kendall described an incident that he had been informed of as the two teams packed down for a scrum and it’s now been confirmed that Herman Ese’ese is the man alleged to have made those comments.
Hull FC star signing facing ‘further investigation’
It’s been a torrid season for Hull FC with yesterday’s loss arguably the rock bottom, but it could get even worse should star signing Ese’ese be banned.
That isn’t necessarily set to happen, nor is it out of the question with the incident that referee Chris Kendall put ‘on report’ now set to be investigated further.
The Hull FC forward has been cited in the Match Review Panel’s minutes with the RFL clarifying that currently no charge has been issued, with more details to be uncovered on the incident.
As yet, the only information is that Ese’ese has been cited for “verbal abuse” with the incident taking place 11 minutes and seven seconds into the game per the MRP’s minutes.
What happens next for Herman Ese’ese?
As per the RFL, the incident will now be further investigated with London Broncos to be contacted by the RFL to provide further evidence given the fact that there is currently insufficient evidence for a charge.
Any response warranting of a charge would be communicated to Hull FC and Ese’ese, at which point the incident could be discussed as part of next week’s Match Review Panel and then subsequently a tribunal, should the MRP deem Ese’ese guilty of ‘verbal abuse’.
Ese’ese’s club Hull FC have issued the following statement: “An incident involving Herman Ese’ese relating to an allegation of ‘verbal abuse’ has been referred for further investigation.”
Hull FC also had Jordan Lane fined £250 as one of four player’s fined, whilst both men to be sent off this weekend in Tommy Makinson and Liam Horne landed a one-game ban. Elsewhere, Liam Byrne was handed a two-game ban for his high shot on the first tackle of the game against Huddersfield Giants.
