Parramatta great Ron Lynch has passed away at the age of 84.
One of the club’s best players through the 1960s, Lynch amassed well over 200 first grade appearances during his stints with the Eels and Panthers.
A tough back-rower, Lynch came through the grades in his hometown of Young, before moving to Forbes to begin his rugby league career.
“Ron was renowned as one of Parramatta’s greatest players,” Peter V’landys said.
“He played 238 games during the 1960s and 1970s, holding his own amongst some of the finest players the game has produced.
“He was also highly respected and regarded by those who came across him.
“On behalf of the commission, I extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Ron’s family, and all those who knew him.”
Lynch also represented NSW on 17 occasions and Australia 12 times, including the tour of Great Britain and France in the late-1960s.
He finished his career with 238 first grade matches to his name after retiring from the game at the end of the 1973 season with Penrith.
