Virginia Tech has cracked a few post-spring Top 25 rankings ahead of the 2024 season

Under the direction of Brent Pry, Virginia Tech’s perception, both locally and nationally, has shifted. Taking over a program that Justin Fuente decimated, Pry helped lead Virginia Tech to a bowl victory and a winning season in 2023 and a lot of eyeballs are on the Hokies this offseason.

With A+ talent retention efforts, Pry and his staff were able to keep top talent in Blacksburg this season, navigating two portal windows and losing just one starter on each side of the ball to transfer –TE  Daequan Wright to Ole Miss and CD Derrick Canteen to Cincinnati.

Quarterback Kyron Drones returns for his second season in Blacksburg along with a bevy of talented wide receivers like Jaylin LaneDa’Quan FeltonStephen Gosnell, and Ali JenningsBhayshul Tuten is back in Blacksburg as is the starting cornerback duo of Mansoor Delane and Dorian Strong.

What the Hokies lost to graduation – defensive tackles Mario KendricksPheldarius Payne, and Norell Pollard along with linebacker Alan Tisdale – were replaced by incoming portal additions of Aeneas Peebles (Duke), Kelvin Gilliam Jr. (Oklahoma), junior college transfer Kemari Copeland, and linebacker transfer Sam Brumfield (Middle Tennessee State).

The Hokies have also added transfer offensive lineman Montavious Cunningham from Georgia State and quarterback Colin Schlee from UCLA this offseason.

With a dynamic quarterback at the helm, Virginia Tech has attracted a lot of attention heading into the season, including being listed on several way-too-early Top 25 listings.

This article aims to take a look at those Top 25 listings.

According to various bookmakers at the time of this article, Virginia Tech has anywhere from +1600 odds to +2200 odds to win the ACC this fall. Florida State is considered the favorite to win the conference, according to the future odds, with odds ranging from +260 to +280.
