Injuries and lack of depth last season negatively impacted the Pittsburgh Steelers’ linebacker room. Cole Holcomb, a starter, suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 9, and Kwon Alexander, his backup, suffered a season-ending achilles tear in Week 10.
The Steelers had to rely on Mark Robinson, Mykal Walker, and Myles Jack. Robinson is the only player listed that is still on the roster.
The Steelers wanted to avoid a situation where an injury to a starting linebacker would negatively impact their depth. They signed Patrick Queen and drafted a linebacker in the 3rd round.
