CANYON, Texas (KFDA) – Effective Wednesday, May 15, Thompson Mayberry, West Texas A&M Associate Athletic Director of Corporate Relations, has been named the Interim Director of Athletics at West Texas A&M.
Mayberry steps in for Michael McBroom, who is now taking over as the Athletic Director at Stephen F. Austin University.
Mayberry has served as the Associate Athletic Director of Corporate Relations from West Texas A&M since May of 2022. For that position, he has developed partnerships with local, regional and national companies united in supporting the Buffs and Lady Buffs.

Mayberry is a Dimmitt, Tx native. He also played football at West Texas A&M where he was a four-year letter winner as a defensive back for the Buffaloes from 1978-1982. He graduated from WT with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing in 1982.
