Second-rower Jaydn Su’A has confirmed his re-signing with the St George Illawarra Dragons.

The 2024 season has started off for the former Queensland State of Origin second-rower in spectacular style, sparking a lot of curiosity over his future.

Su’A has stuck to his earlier remarks and ignored outside interest to re-sign with the Dragons on a two-year extension that will keep him in red and white until at least the end of 2026. The Dolphins, South Sydney Rabbitohs, and other clubs were linked to making a play for the back-rower.

Notably, Su’A was rumored to be moving to rejoin Wayne Bennett, with whom he had previously trained. It’s anticipated that Bennett would join with the South Sydney for a second stint at the club this week.

The news that Su’A had signed a new contract with the Dragons excited head coach Shane Flanagan.

In a club release confirming the announcement, Flanagan stated, “Jaydn’s performances this year have shown how important he is to this club and how determined he is to perform for the Dragons.”

“We see him as a vital member of our forward pack over the coming years, and he is just entering his prime football years.”

Su’A joined the Dragons and has since appeared in 40 games, for a total of 123 NRL appearances.

Given his outstanding season debut and growing momentum, he may be  considered for a return to the State of Origin arena this year with other injuries causing headaches for Billy Slater in the forwards.
