INDIANAPOLIS (WXIX) – Hall of Famer and Cincinnati Reds legend Ken Griffey Jr. is the honorary Pace Car driver for Sunday’s Indianapolis 500.

The 13-time All-Star will drive the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray as he leads the field of 33 drivers to the start of the 108th Indianapolis 500, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced Monday.

“Driving the Pace Car and leading the field to start the Indy 500 is one of the coolest experiences,” Griffey said. “I came to the track a few years ago as a photographer and look forward to seeing the race from a different perspective.”

The green flag for “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” is scheduled to drop at 12:45 p.m. Sunday.
