Injury update: Scans have confirmed Dogs top Midfielder has suffered hamstring injury.

The Western Bulldogs could welcome back two midfield stars ahead of a Friday night clash against the Lions at Marvel Stadium.

Tom Liberatore and Ed Richards need to get through main training to be deemed available for the fixture, with the pair missing due to concussion.

“Tom has built some great continuity in his training in the last few weeks,” Head of Sports Medicine, Chris Bell said.

“He has progressed as well as we could have hoped and ticked every possible box to declare his availability.”

“If he gets through main training Wednesday like I expect, he will return to availability.”

Richards has progressed well through the post-concussion framework and will be assessed over the next 48-72 hours.

James Harmes is set for a stint on the sidelines after damaging his hamstring in the win over Collingwood.

“Scans have confirmed that James has suffered a low-grade hamstring injury,” Bell said.

“I expect him to miss the next 3-4 weeks of footy.”

While Laith Vandermeer exited the game in the second quarter, the small forward is a chance to face last year’s grand finalists.

“Scans have confirmed a pocket of fluid surrounding his hamstring muscle that is related to a corky that has bled,” Bell said.

This explains his hamstring muscle not working properly.”

“We will work through a process with Laitham this week to restore his hamstring function which will determine his availability.”

Jason Johannisen has suffered a further setback, injuring his calf over the weekend, with his return date set for a fortnight after the bye.
