Chelsea midfielder Connor Gallagher looks as if he will be on the move this summer, with just a year left on his deal and the Blues looking to raise funds. Atletico Madrid have reportedly set their sights on the 24-year-old.

According to SkySports, as carried by Diario AS, Gallagher is a target for Atletico Madrid, who are looking to strengthen their midfield. They will not however meet the €50m asking price that Chelsea have reportedly set, but they could be willing to let him go for less too.

Where the matter gets complicated for Atletico is the interest of Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa. The latter can offer Champions League football this season, and both will likely be able to outbid Los Rojiblancos for his services.

Gallagher’s name is added to a list of midfielders that Atletico have been linked to, including Feyenoord’s Mats Wieffer, amongst others. Given the financial disparity, the chances of bringing in a Premier League midfielder likely hinge on the player’s desire to try something different. That much was seen with Pierre-Emile Hjobjerg last season, who was a target for Atletico, but proved too costly.
