Tranmere Rovers have confirmed the signing of striker Josh Davison on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee from AFC Wimbledon.

Davison, 24, joins Nigel Adkins’ squad and will enhance Rovers’ attacking options ahead of the 2024/25 season.

An experienced striker, Davison has made 223 career appearances and scored 66 goals, with eight of those coming last season with Wimbledon.

Davison began his career at Peterborough United before a three-year stint with Charlton Athletic, where he first played under Nigel Adkins.

During his time at Charlton, Davison made appearances in both the Championship and League One. He also had loan spells with Forest Green Rovers and Swindon Town before joining AFC Wimbledon in July 2022.

Primarily a central forward, Davison also played on both wings for Wimbledon last season.

Upon signing for Tranmere, Davison expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m excited to be here and it’s looking good for the season ahead. I can’t wait. I’ve played on some noisy nights at Prenton Park so I’m excited. I’ve played some of my best football under the gaffer when I was at Charlton and he always made me feel confident when I was playing, so I’m looking forward to that again.”

Manager Nigel Adkins shared his excitement about the new addition: “Josh provides another attacking dynamic to the team and we are delighted he has joined us. Having managed the hard-working striker before, I’m really looking forward to seeing him in a Tranmere Rovers shirt and continuing to develop his potential.”
