‘sad news’ AFC Wimbledon loses 24 year old striker to Tranmere Rovers.

AFC Wimbledon have sold Josh Davison to League Two rivals Tranmere Rovers.

The 24-year-old joined the Dons from Charlton in July 2022, becoming a then-club record signing of the phoenix era.

Davison featured 92 times in all competitions for Johnnie Jackson at Plough Lane, scoring 18 times and picking up six assists.

Wimbledon have a sell-on clause included in Davison’s sale to Tranmere.

The ex-Swindon forward played 11 times under Tranmere boss Nigel Adkins at Charlton, netting four times.

On signing for Tranmere, Davison said: “I’m excited to be here and it’s looking good for the season ahead.

“I can’t wait. I’ve played on some noisy nights at Prenton Park so I’m excited.

“I’ve played some of my best football under the gaffer when I was at Charlton and he always made me feel confident when I was playing, so I’m looking forward to that again.”

Adkins said: “Josh provides another attacking dynamic to the team and we are delighted he has joined us.

“Having managed the hard-working striker before, I’m really looking forward to seeing him in a Tranmere Rovers shirt and continuing to develop his potential.”
