Chelsea youngster Chinonso Chibueze has left the club and signed with Stoke City today. The 18-year-old still had some time left on his first professional contract that he signed 18 months ago, which means that we should be receiving some token compensation and/or a sell-on consideration in return for his exit.
London-born Chibueze, who apparently goes by “ChiChi”, joined the Academy at the under-10 level, coming over from neighboring Fulham. Mainly a right winger, he was a regular part of our U18 rotation at the start of last season, but would go on to make just 9 appearances (4 starts) by the end of the campaign. It would appear that he saw a better pathway for himself at Stoke City, where he’s gone into their U21 team. As per their official website, they beat out “competition from several clubs” for the youngster’s signature.
