Georgia football is used to big recruiting wins, but that doesn’t make every commitment Kirby Smart and his Bulldogs snag on the recruiting trail any less of a big deal in Athens.

As such, UGA fans should be excited about Jaylan Morgan, a four-star safety from Rockvale, Tennessee.

Ranked as the No. 23 safety recruit in the nation as well as the No. 6 player from the state of Tennessee, per the 247Sports Composite, Morgan committed to Georgia over Florida, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

“The development at Georgia is out of this world,” Morgan told On3 regarding his commitment. “I haven’t seen anybody besides Alabama when it was coached by Nick Saban produce constant talent for the NFL like Georgia does. I previously had relationships with coach [Travaris] Robinson and coach [Donte] Williams before they got to Georgia. For them to come to the same school and have the same vision for me, that stuck out to me.”

Travaris Robinson is UGA’s new co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach. Speaking of Alabama, he spent the last two seasons coaching cornerbacks for the Crimson Tide. Williams was the defensive backs coach at USC from 2020-2023 before taking the same role for the Bulldogs in December of 2023.

The promise of NFL development plus staff familiarity is a huge advantage on the recruiting trail, but even without those two things, the vibes in Athens made sense for Morgan.

“It’s like a family reunion, but competitive when I am there,” he explained. “It feels like home. It feels like I’ve known these people for a long time. My first long conversation with coach Smart was at the Scavenger Hunt and we hit it off. I was hitting it off with everybody.”

Smart’s 2025 class now boasts 19 commitments and is ranked No. 3 nationally.
