Leeds United are considering a move for Swiss defender Aurele Amenda but face a battle with Serie A side Atalanta.
Young Boys ace Aurele Amenda is believed to be on Leeds United’s wish list amid comparisons to Chris Smalling.
Leeds are searching for new signings and more defensive depth may be on Daniel Farke’s wish list.
Robin Koch and Diego Llorente have been loaned out, joining Eintracht Frankfurt and Roma respectively.
Maximilian Wober is set to follow suit with a move to Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
That means Leeds need centre backs and one of their targets is Young Boys talent Aurele Amenda.
The Daily Mail claimed earlier this week that Leeds have been scouting Amenda ahead of a possible move.
Amenda is only 19 and has played just 26 first-team games for Young Boys, so this would be a signing with the future in mind.
Still, Amenda is highly rated – and Leeds will have a real battle on their hands if they want him this summer.
Leeds United face Atalanta battle for Aurele Amenda
Tuttomercatoweb claim that Atalanta are interested in signing Amenda as they shop around for new signings.
Turkish international Merih Demiral could leave Atalanta this summer and Atalanta will be looking at potential centre back signings.
Amenda fits the bill and Atalanta have previously raided the Swiss market for the likes of Remo Freuler and Berat Djimsiti in years gone by.
Bergamo is also at the very north of Italy and the location may well appeal to Swiss players who want to stay somewhat closer to home.
TMW’s report also claims that Amenda and his game is reminiscent of Chris Smalling, the former Manchester United and current Roma defender.
Amenda stands at 6ft 4in tall just like Smalling and given how impressive the Englishman has been in Italy, Leeds would surely love a defender of that ilk.
There is a lot of developing for the teenager to do and Leeds may well see huge potential in him, but beating Atalanta will not be easy.
