Breaking: AFL rules final judgement on Collingwood defender over Jack Ginnivan hit.

Collingwood defender Brayden Maynard has escaped with a fine, after striking Hawthorn small forward Jack Ginnivan on Saturday.

The Hawks defeated the Pies by 66 points at the MCG, with the attention firmly on former Collingwood premiership player Ginnivan.

In the second quarter, Maynard collected the ball on the wing, as Ginnivan moved towards him to attempt a tackle.

Maynard then raised his elbow to defend himself but collected Ginnivan by the neck in the process.

The Hawks forward went down in pain but played out the game.

The act was graded as careless conduct, low impact and high contact, resulting in a $3750 fine, unless he accepts the early plea to reduce it.

Meantime, Ginnivan was cheeky with his celebrations in the Hawks win, topped off with an act against the Pies cheer squad that left fans fuming.

After kicking a goal, Ginnivan walked back to the goal square and motioned a “sleep tight” celebration, suggesting that the game had been won.

Pies fans lashed out at Ginnivan in response, yelling over the fence at him.

Nine presenter Jo Hall expressed her disappointment at his actions during Saturday’s match.

“What a smart arse Jack Ginnivan is. We were beaten by a way better team. But his behaviour is disgraceful,” Hall wrote on X.

Ginnivan cheekily hit back, responding to Hall on Sunday.

“That’s a mean thing to say, Jo,” he said on X.

He then changed his profile picture to him celebrating the win.

Ginnivan collected an impressive 31 disposals, kicked two goals and laid five tackles in the Hawks win.

Hawthorn is now just one game outside the top eight, facing off against the Crows at Adelaide Oval next Sunday.
