It’s been announced this morning that Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has added another club to his portfolio. The Reds chief has now acquired Monza following the tragic passing of Silvio Berlusconi.

The Serie A outfit have just enjoyed a pretty decent campaign in the Italian top flight, finishing 11th in the table. Now, Marinakis will take over proceedings with the club and aim to kick them up the Serie A table.

This could be extremely good news for the Reds. Forest are in the race to sign Carlos Augusto and this could now give the Premier League outfit a huge advantage when it comes to signing him.

The Reds need a new left-back this summer. Renan Lodi looks likely to head elsewhere, leaving Harry Toffolo and the unseen Omar Richards to compete for a place in Steve Cooper’s team.

Augusto was one of the top-performing left-backs in the division last season. He is more of an attack-minded defender and Forest will need to fend off interest from Inter to sign him.

The 24-year-old is valued at around £8 million. Monza will look to sell the player this summer with his contract due to expire in 12 months.

Now, with Marinakis at the helm, Forest could have a real chance of snaring the player from the clutches of Inter. The Greek businessman will surely try and do his best by Forest and this bodes well.

Marinakis has acquired Monza and Forest could now land Augusto

Following the tragic passing of Berlusconi, Marinakis is the man tasked with picking up the baton. He knows what it takes to run a successful football club and this is exciting for Monza.

What won’t be exciting for their fans is the future of Augusto. He has vast interest this summer and ultimately one of Marinakis’ first acts at Monzo could be to negotiate the sale of the left-back

That could help Forest though. They’re keen to sign the defender this summer, with the chances of signing Lodi diminishing in recent weeks.

Augusto would be a quality addition to the Forest ranks. During 2022/23, he made 37 appearances, scoring six goals and registering five assists for the club.

Furthermore, the Brazilian performer is only 24. That means that he’s got bags of time on his side and at just £8 million, Forest could make a serious profit in the coming years.

Recently, it had looked as though Inter held the aces with this deal. However, Marinakis’ arrival at Monza might have just made Forest the favourite to sign Augusto this summer.
