Commanders formally drop 23-year-old kicker after disappointing one game play.

Kicker Cade York’s cup of coffee with the Washington Commanders didn’t last long. One game.

In that game, York missed two field goals against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The following morning, he was given his walking papers.

“We have really high standards,” Coach Dan Quinn said. “We’re still going to keep competing to find that kicker. … Adam and I visited last night and again today and decided that releasing York was the best thing for the team at this time, and so we’ll keep attacking.”

In the realm of the internet, there are none more savage than football fans. Following the release of York, the Commanders fans chimed in.

“Deserved,” one person said.

“Short leash, good lord lmao,” said another.

“Damn, they should have paid me a game check to miss two field goals instead,” a third hilariously said.

“I mentioned his name quite a bit before the season started. Seibert is a vet who has kicked for multiple teams. His career long is 53 Yards. Hopefully he solves the issue at the kicker spot #RaiseHail,” one Commanders fan said.

This just goes to show that the internet is undefeated when it comes these wild comments.

The Commanders did announce the signing of kicker Austin Seibert. He will make his Commanders debut on Sunday when the hated New York Giants come to town. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
