Nottingham Forest are in the race to sign Leeds United star Tyler Adams this summer and they’ve now discovered how much he could cost. The Whites were relegated from the Premier League during 2022/23 and now they could lose some stars.
Adams is wanted by several interested parties. Forest are in the race but they are competing with the likes of Liverpool and Aston Villa to snare the 24-year-old from Elland Road.
Signing him won’t be easy for Forest though, with Leeds holding out for a somewhat huge transfer fee. It’s been claimed today by Team Talk that the Whites will hold out for around £40 million for the player’s services.
Adams enjoyed a sound 2022/23 campaign at Elland Road. He played 27 times for the club and his numbers were among the most impressive in the whole league for a defensive midfielder.
Arguably the reason that Leeds were relegated was down to Adams picking up an injury. The man with 36 caps for the United States missed the final 12 games of the campaign and that was seriously detrimental.
Given the astronomical price tag, many clubs will be priced out of the chance to sign Adams this summer. Forest could be one of those clubs given that it’s unlikely the club will spend £40 million on one player.

Jesse Marsch was a big fan of Adams. After signing him for Leeds he called him ‘special’; tipping him to take the Premier League by storm after adding him to his squad.
Adams would be a remarkable signing for the Reds. He was one of the top performers in the Premier League when it comes to defensive midfielders last season and it’s no surprise there is vast interest.
However, Forest will have to tread carefully. Spending £40 million on Adams would perhaps be deemed wreckless following their excessive summer spending and other areas need strengthening.
Spending such an amount on one player would likely do serious damage to the budget. That said, it would be a step in the direction of prioritising quality over quantity this summer.
Adams is quality and it remains to be seen just how strongly Forest feel about him. If a deal could be struck similar to the one that saw the Reds land Morgan Gibbs-White, then perhaps this is one worth doing by the club.
