After picking up just one point from two away games at Leyton Orient and Stevenage, Wrexham were looking forward to getting back to home comforts.

Wrexham welcomed Northampton Town to the STōK Cae Ras but sent them packing with a thumping 4-1 victory.

James McClean opened the scoring before Cameron McGeehan brought the visitors level.

Wrexham stepped it up from there though as Jack Marriott and Elliot Lee established a 3-1 lead.

McClean finished off the scoring just as he started it, converting a Ryan Barnett cross to secure a 4-1 victory.

McClean bagged a brace but the real star of the show was the wing back on the other side.

The aforementioned Barnett enjoyed a simply remarkable day from right wing back.

All four Wrexham goals came from Barnett crosses into the box as he ran riot against Northampton.

Three of them were directly turned in for Barnett assists whilst the other found McClean to tee up Marriott’s goal.

Barnett has been praised by George Dobson for his performance and fans have been blown away by his display.

McClean has now joined in the praise, claiming that Barnett has been ‘absolutely brilliant’ for Wrexham.
